
The Coast Watch Wildlife Society was formed:
- To conduct marine MAMMAL RESEARCH
- To conduct POPULATION STUDIES on and off the coast of California.
- To support REHABILITATION OF LOCAL WILDLIFE injured by manmade causes.
- To support HOSPICE of domestic animals.
- To support BIRD FEEDINGS at the Bolinas Reserve.

ACCOPLISHMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDING 06/30/2011:
COASTWATCH WILDLIFE SOCIETY
A California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation
1. Richardson’s Bay Eel Grass preservation:
a. Working with Bill Price, Richardson’s Bay Harbor Master and Herb
Weiner, Mayor of Sausalito to delineate non anchorage areas off Dunphy
Park and Paradise Bay.
b. Removed 16 boats off Dunphy from anchoring. Fighting to remove 3
sailboats off Paradise Bay currently. Goal is to have these two separated
eel grass beds, due to dredging, reconnect into one healthy substrate for
the oceans fish egg laying and hatchery.
2. Gulf of the Farralon’s marine mammal research.
The research vessel Swatara, the 26’ Osprey, had to be sold due to lack of funding in October 2011, so no further research will be done there.
3. Bolinas wildlife rehabilitation and preserve feedings.
Over 14,000 dollars of
niger, finch premium, hen scratch, black oil sunflower and hummingbird food was
consumed during this last year.
4. Research vessel, Swatara, the 26′ Osprey, was a support boat for Plastiki ocean trials.
5. Hospice and rescue animals:
a. Present animals being cared for:
1. Felines: Romeo, Misty, Sally and Creamy.
Creamy is a 23 year old female spayed feline, who has kidney failure
and nasal osteomyelitis, but is being successfully treated by twice daily
antibiotic and once daily subcutaneous fluid therapy for 7 months now.
2. Canine: Tracker, who has sublingual incurable malignant melanoma.
He has undergone 6 radiation treatments and 4 vaccinations, and is in
partial remission.
b. Animals dying this past year:
1. Felines: Zorro, Amico, Wilson.
2. Canines: Humphrey, Franca.
